Oh my, it’s been awhile. While not an excuse for being absent, 2018 was a very busy (and successful!) year for The Greek Grape’s travel arm — Greek Grape Wine Tours (GGWT). And, 2019 is shaping up to be even better!
Once I get you all updated on what has been happening here at HQ, I have resolved to be better at sharing the immense amount of new Greek wine learnings I’ve acquired over this past year. There is a lot of fun, interesting stuff. But, first…..while some of you may have probably already the news, it bears repeating!
Arguably this year’s biggest achievement, GGWT was nominated for AND won the annual award for Wine Tour Company of the Year in Greece from Travel and Hospitality Awards (THA).
“A THA award recognises those who make every travelers experience exceptional. We seek out the activities and adventures that are truly outstanding and consider the best in each category.”
They continued, “The Greek Grape Tour itself is efficient, all-inclusive and well structured. A multi day tour such as this is unique, rare and perfect for those travelers who not only want to enjoy wine but also the local history and culture.”
Official press release and announcement will be published next month, but we’ve been celebrating for the past several!
For the first time ever, Greece was considered and chosen for the International Program of the Executive Wine MBA course at Sonoma State University, the leading institution for wine business education. All other global wine regions have been part of the Program but never Greece.
And….GGWT was selected to develop this inaugural Program and lead the group in March!
The aim is to introduce these 25+ wine industry professionals to all aspects of the Greek wine business not just only to wineries but also trade organizations, distributors, exporters, wine bars, suppliers, tourism associations and agencies, etc. This allows them to compare and contrast practices across various wine regions worldwide. What a great way to learn! Read more about their program here.
Since these accomplishments have been announced, two more wine associations have contacted GGWT requesting a customized trip for their member base as well. Buckle up GGWT fans, it’s going to be a crazy year!
Interested in joining in on the fun!? While September 2019 is fully booked, there are still a few spots on our Spring trip — April 30-May 10. Visit our website for more details.
Can’t travel until next year, stay tuned for our 2020 dates or gather a group and pick your own…but hurry as the calendar will be filling up fast so it appears!
Nicely done! 😀👍
